Hey, this just occurred to me, so I thought I'd ask. What did you ever make using those microwaves I helped you carry when we met?

[When Riku doesn't get a reply from Normie for almost a week, he gets a little suspicious. That's not like him.]

To answer your question: I either repaired them for local shelters, or I stripped them for parts. Microwaves have really strong electromagnets in them, and I used them in the original version of my glider.

[And then he sends a video link to ustube in this vein showing someone using a microwave's electromagnets for something else.]

[The relief he feels when his phone dings and it's Normie isn't completely unexpected, but for whatever reason he's still surprised when it happens.]

Man. It's okay, I just... another of my friends ported out for a while at the same time, so when I didn't hear from you, I got suspicious.

Haha, that's actually really cool. I didn't know you could do that. But I guess it makes sense. My friend was looking for someone to repair his friend's communicator, and I mentioned you, and when I said we'd met while you were carrying microwaves, he was like, "is he gonna blow stuff up"? So I got curious.

Trust me, if I had known it was coming I would have sent something out.

You break anything down enough you can get some cool things, you just have to know what you're looking for... or get something so cheaply it doesn't matter.

Normie switches to video, where he can be seen smiling and holding up a pumpkin bomb, though it's been scrubbed of the pumpkin motif, so it pretty much just looks like a shiny orange sphere.]

We'll keep this a secret between me and you. Though exactly none of this was made from microwave parts.

[Is this a blog Normie follows? He's curious, though he scrolls through the pictures without much recognition. He has no idea about this stuff....

Riku's eyebrows raise when Normie shows him his bomb, then lets out a huff of laughter.]

Looks too fancy for a microwave.

[Nah, just a cursory google search. He's been messing around with electronics for as long as he can remember, and he's always been a fan of learning by doing.]

It might not have been salvageable. I'm good but I'd also require something to work from.

Hah. Yeah, it looked pretty bad. Wonder if they replaced it, or managed to fix it...? I'll have to ask next time I talk to him.

Not at all. It's kind of a two fold thing... first, my job at OsCorp takes up a lot of my time, and that's in De Chima, so sometimes I don't want to walk back to the porter.

The other is, well, people in my house don't tend to stay very long. It's disconcerting walking through the door and finding a bunch of strangers once a month.

Huh... well, if that's the case, you can always move.

[He tilts his head a little. He can understand how strange that might be. He's had a few lineup changes himself at the house. Kang and Riku himself seem to be the only constants -- there was Mandrake before, and then Kakashi, and now Marty, but who knows how long he would be there.]

If you lived in De Chima, we might run into each other offline a little more. [Cuz Riku's boyfriend lives there.]

I know, I know. Trust me, it's something I've thought about before. I've been on the fence about the whole thing.
