Yeah, I know. I was there.

It's, well... that's where May was, however brief.

[He gets that. Sora lived right next door to him while he was here, and it's weird looking out his window at the house and thinking about how he isn't there.]

Well, that's all right, then.

Yeah, but I also can't be dwelling on that either.

No. It's okay to... need to for a while, though. I feel the same about Sora.

But at least Sora was here recently, though. May's been gone a long time.

Yeah. I... did you get to see her when you were home?

...No. Back home, we were both at a point in our lives where our paths didn't cross much. Not that we had a falling out or anything, but she was doing her thing and I was doing mine, and there just wasn't much overlap.

[He read about her exploits in the paper, though. But as Riku doesn't know about her spider side, he keeps that to himself.]

[He hums, considering.]

I don't know if I told you this, but Sora and Kairi and I were apart for a really long time. We came back together, though. I think you guys can do that, too.

Well, when May was here, briefly, the last time... She was from the future. Well, my future. So I know our paths cross again.

The problem is I can't be there for her like I used to be. And I don't mean that in a bad way or anything, like putting myself down, I mean that physically. I've been too busy with Brenda and taking over the family business.

I think, though, that... once you've settled into a routine with your business and all that, it'll be easier to make time. I mean, I get it being hectic, but...

Maybe. But that's still there. Honestly, I'd rather focus on here.

Yeah. Well, maybe she'll show up again sometime.

I don't know if I want her to. Being stuck here is... weird.

... Yeah. I mean, Sora's been here and gone home, but... I kind of hope I don't see Kairi here. Or Sora again, even. I miss them, but them being here would be... bittersweet, I guess.

Bittersweet's the perfect word to describe my feelings about it too.

Yeah. I mean... the Sora that was here last was way behind me. He still had stuff to finish. He can't really get that done if he's here.

But he will do it. The fact that you're from his future proves that.

Yeah, of course. I... didn't necessarily want to tell him all that, though.

I don't blame you.

When May and I got here, she... kind of let some things slip about my future that I'm not too happy about knowing. Not because It bothered me to learn them, but because I know there's nothing I can do to prevent any of it.

... Yeah. I mean, there's a chance... that things can go differently. Just because someone tells you the future that they know, doesn't mean things are concrete. But I'd be bothered by that, too.

Yeah, I know. But it's more the helplessness. I can't take this knowledge back with me in the hopes that if things do start to go that way, I can change them.

Mmhmm. I... for me, all that stuff has already happened. So I guess I have the opposite problem.

Isn't it the same problem though, in a way? You have this knowledge that you could, in theory, pass off to Sora... to help change your timeline for the better... only it wouldn't help either one of you, since he wouldn't remember it when he got back.

Yeah. And I don't know if even if he remembered, would it change my past? Or just his future? If you subscribe to that many-worlds theory, then if Sora changed something, he could branch off into a different timeline than I'm in.
